The game really has no respect for your time in that regard. You play extremely easy stages until eventually one stage pulls a gotcha on you and you lose a Sister or two. This totally impossible creature just leaps at your sister and attacks. Then the final Sister is left needing only one kill to exit, I even timed things so that my strongest girl was left last, just in case one of the tanky bois spawned as the final enemy.
OTHERCIDE END OF TURN DELAY FREE
Slowly handle the stage, realizing it's yet again another totally free stage with no teamwork required. Every single enemy in this stage was a total cake walk, they explain that sticking together is important but to drive that point AWAY from home each sister spawns in a corner of the map with their own enemies to deal with. For me my first encounter with one of these things was at the end of a stage where each of your Sisters must get 4 kills and after 4 kills they disappear from the stage. Then on the occasional stage you'll get dumped on by some "hunter" creature. Almost every encounter is a total breeze which makes the slow way animations play out extremely annoying. The graphics and art style are absolutely stunning, and I like these types of RPGs, so I gave it a try. It's definitely worth checking out for it's style and aesthetic at the very least. If you find yourself feeling iffy, I highly recommend grabbing this when it's on sale. A more hardcore player would probably find more enjoyment out of the mechanics than I did, but I really enjoyed what I played. The story had me lost as well, so I didn't feel compelled to finish the game and looking at lore videos made my head hurt so it's just a muddy mess.įinal verdict? This was a very fun game to sink 10+ hours into. The difficulty spikes pretty fast too when you get further into the game, and with the lack of freshness the further I got into the game, I eventually lost the will to try and finish it which is a shame. Maybe some more customizations you could unlock the further you could get in the story, something to just add to the sameness you see. I wish there were more classes or more randomized skills they could choose from to keep the game fresh. The game starts to lose its luster the more you play unfortunately. Every few levels you'll have to make the choice between the same two skills over and over. There is only one unlockable class and the leveling up becomes kind of stale after a while. This game does come with some gripes however. Those were some of the most epic songs of the OST and made the battles very enjoyable.

Really loved how the music would change the longer the stage would go and especially loved the boss battle themes. The style of this game is very top notch. Very nice use of the black and white with touches of red. I absolutely loved the music and look of this game. You will also gain new passive buffs that you can choose to make your future runs more manageable as well. This is the key to getting stronger as each new run you do, you will get the option to revive previous warriors to use on your new run. Upon sacrificing a daughter into another, you heal them and they gain stat increases as well. The unique thing you'll want to do is to sacrifice them into each other. You can gather buffs called memories that you can equip to their skills to give them different effects like bonus damage or shredding armor. I like some of the customization that comes with you units. You can only take 2-4 with you per mission you do and it's important to make them stronger before you face off against the bosses. Each class has their strengths and weaknesses and a set if skills you can learn as you level them up. You start with three playable classes, Blademaster, Shieldbearer, and Soulslinger. If you play games like XCOM or tactic games like it, you'll fit right in easily. Can you save the Child and defeat Suffering?Ĭonfusing story aside, I really like the gameplay. It takes shape in the forms of monsters and powerful bosses alike. He is being hurt and hounded from a force known as the Suffering. You are trying to save a being known as the Child. From what I can gather you play as the Red Mother and spawn warriors from her essence that she calls her daughters. But lemme slow things down a bit and start from the top. I loved the art style and gameplay, I just wish there was more to chew on. This was a very cool and stylish tactics game.
